Why Pixiedust Papillons and Phalenes are not members of the Papillon Club of America.
Some potential buyers wonder why, with all our AKC
champion papillons, Pixiedust Papillons and Phalenes are not members of the
Papillon Club of America. We got our Papillons when there were very few around.
We did not know any Papillon Club of America members. We had to learn about Papillons and
phalenes, breeding and showing, raising and training papillon and phalene
puppies, without the help of any Papillon Club of America Member.
This has proven to be a big bonus to us and our dogs. Because we had to research
and learn from many other sources, we feel we have had an excellent learning
experience that cannot be found by following traditions that have been handed
down from one dog breeder to another. Traditions, that many times, have no more
merit than old wives tales.
In the light of all the new research, and the many different disciplines dealing
with feeding, breeding and training and simply understanding how a dog thinks
and acts or reacts, or how we can better communicate to our pets, we at
Pixiedust Papillons and Phalenes, do believe that we have learned more and do
better by both our dogs and our buyers, by being independent of the Papillon
Club of America.
We do not see how any papillon or phalene club can help educate both papillon
and phalene puppy buyers or breeders, by requiring two sponsors in order to even
apply to be a member. Many papillon and phalene dog owners do not know even one
member of the Papillon Club of America--let alone two. We fundamentally disagree
also with the Papillon Club of America's policy of denying an application
without a majority vote and giving no reason for the rejection!!
How can any person want to even apply to club that gives the right of rejection
to a single vote with no reason given? What is the benefit of belonging to any
papillon or phalene club that is not willing to welcome new members? That is not
willing to help educate buyers of papillon or phalenes puppies and dogs? When
membership in a Papillon Club becomes a battle of politics. when good people are
denied entry for no reason, then such a club is not worth the time or the
effort.
We at Pixiedust Papillons and Phalenes want to do the very best for our papillon
and phalenes and for the buyers of our dogs and puppies. When good research
proves that "traditional" ways of doing things are not in the best
interest of our dogs, then we will do what is best for the papillons and
phalenes, and we ignore those who are mired in their own ignorance and
prejudices.
Letter to Pixiedust Papillons and Phalenes from a buyer who had second thoughts.........
Dear ( Pixiedust papillons & Phalenes), I want to thank you for all the time you spent answering my questions. You were very fair in the price and all of your info on your web site is very helpful. I guess I let some other breeders sway me against getting a puppy from you. I now know that most breeders tell you what you want to hear, and are not always honest when talking about other breeders. I did buy a puppy (from a PCA breeder). I probably paid more than I should of. She is supposed to be show quality. I am not sure that she is. It doesn't matter though because I am having her spayed at 6 months. She is very sweet and we are all in love with her. The vet says that she is very healthy. But anyway, I believe that the breeder that I got her from probably does over breed her dogs. What I do know is that I am providing a much better home then she had. I am sorry for any inconvenience that I caused you. I can understand why you are not a member of the PCA . I should not have listened to some of the people that I did. I am sorry that pap breeders talk about each other that way. But I guess it happens all the time and is not very unusual in the business. Thanks again. Please accept my apology once again. And another letter from a different person.................................
I just had to
write back and tell you how impressed I've been with you. For months I was
looking for a puppy and the breeders that I dealt with were unreal. You
have taken the time to put up an excellent web site giving so much info.
Plus sending back the deposit right away when I said keep it for the next pup.
Your upfront attitude and answering the emails have eased my worries about
getting a dog. Some of the emails and conversations I had with other
breeders really turned me off. I just had to write and tell you this -
thanks for being so honest with me.
Thanks again,
